Our story
It started with a bedtime story
When my children were little, bedtimes were often hard and I was usually running on empty.
So I started making up stories.
They weren't polished or perfectly planned. They were simply ours — and that was what made them special.
Not perfect stories. Just ours.
There were silly voices, changing plots, inside jokes and characters who returned night after night.
One of those characters was Polly.
Before long, my children were asking for “another Polly story”. Each adventure became part of a world we were creating together.
We laughed. We connected. We made memories.
Five minutes that meant everything.
The stories became
harder to start
As life became busier, there were more to-do lists, more mental load and less energy left at the end of the day.
But the stories never stopped mattering.
I realised the hardest part was not telling the story. It was finding the first idea when I was already exhausted.
Once we had a character, a place or a small problem to solve, the magic usually followed.
What if the blank page disappeared?
I began thinking about how many other parents wanted this kind of connection but felt too tired, uncertain or under pressure to make up stories.
That idea became FableFolk: a parent-led bedtime storytelling companion for families with children aged 3–8.
FableFolk gives parents a ready-made world and simple, personalised prompts. Then the screen goes away and the parent tells the story in their own words and voice.
The app provides the spark.
The magic comes from you.
Built to support you, not replace you
I never wanted FableFolk to become another app that tells the story while the parent sits beside it.
A generated story might include your child's name. But it cannot recreate your voices, your family jokes or the way your child changes the adventure halfway through.
That is where the real magic lives.
FableFolk takes away the pressure of inventing everything, while keeping you at the heart of the experience.

FableFolk is growing from one family's bedtime ritual into a collection of story worlds that other families can make their own.
