Terms of Service

Last updated 5 June 2026

v1 draft. These terms will be reviewed by a UK consumer-law solicitor pre-launch. The plain-English commitments below are how we intend to operate today.

Plain-English terms for using FableFolk. By signing in you agree to them. If you can't agree, don't sign in, and feel free to email us about anything that feels off.

Who we are

FableFolk is operated by The Fable Folk Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Contact: hello@thefablefolk.com.

What FableFolk is

A service that helps parents tell bedtime stories. It generates a setup, three cue cards, and a short audio briefing. The parent tells the story; FableFolk just hands them the scaffolding.

It is not a replacement for a parent. It is not a sleep aid. It is not a clinical or therapeutic tool.

AI-generated content

Story scaffolding and audio briefings are produced by AI models (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini, ElevenLabs voice synthesis). Output is generated fresh each time and isn't individually reviewed by a human before you see it.

We have shaped the prompts to favour safe, age-appropriate storytelling. But you, the parent, are the final filter. If something a story produces doesn't sit right, regenerate or skip it. Use the report button (when present) to flag it so we can improve the prompts.

Your account

One adult per account. Don't share sign-in details. The account is for you and your immediate household; you can add child profiles for the children at your bedtime.

You must be 18 or older to hold a FableFolk account.

Subscriptions

FableFolk offers two paid tiers: Storyteller and Worldbuilder. Pricing, what each tier includes, and current promotions live on the pricing page.

Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period until you cancel them. You can cancel at any time from your account page (web) or your device's subscription manager (App Store or Google Play). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep access until then.

Subscriptions started inside the iOS or Android app are billed and managed by Apple or Google respectively. Their refund and cancellation rules apply in addition to ours.

Refunds

For subscriptions started on the web within the UK or EU, you have a 14-day right to cancel under consumer distance-selling rules. Email us within 14 days of your first paid subscription and we'll refund it.

For subscriptions started inside the iOS or Android app, refunds are handled by Apple or Google directly. Contact them through your purchase history. We don't have the ability to refund an App Store or Play Store charge ourselves.

Outside the 14-day window, partial-period refunds aren't given. You keep access through the period you paid for.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • Use FableFolk to generate content for anyone other than your own household's bedtime
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or use it as an input to your own product
  • Use it to harass or harm anyone, including yourself
  • Sign up using a false identity or someone else's payment method without permission

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. If you think we got it wrong, email us and we'll review.

Your stories belong to you

The stories generated for your child are yours to use within your family: save them, read them again, write them down. The prompts and the engine that produced them are ours.

You grant us a non-exclusive licence to store and process the content you create through FableFolk (your child profiles, your custom worlds, reflections, canon notes) solely to provide the service to you.

Changes to the service

FableFolk is being built actively. Features may change, improve or sometimes be removed. We'll let you know about any change that meaningfully affects what you pay for.

Termination

You can delete your FableFolk account at any time from your account page. That cancels any active subscription and deletes your data on our side. Apple and Google subscriptions also need to be cancelled from your device's subscription manager, and we can't do that for you.

No warranty

FableFolk is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We don't guarantee that every generated story will land well for your child or that the service will be available at every bedtime. We try; sometimes the AI has an off night.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for things we can't lawfully limit: fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, breach of the Consumer Rights Act in the UK, or any other statutory right you have as a consumer.

For anything else, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose, or £50, whichever is greater. We're not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, without affecting any consumer rights you have in your home country.

Changes to these terms

When we update these terms in a way that affects you, we'll update the date at the top and email you. Continuing to use FableFolk after a change means you accept it; if you don't, you can cancel and we'll refund any unused portion of your current paid period.

Privacy

How we handle your and your child's information lives in our Privacy Policy. It's shorter than this page.
